LUCY'S PLAY
ENSWORTH HIGH SCHOOL
Written by Sally Seitz
Directed by David Berry
Performance by The Ensworth High School Theatre Program Students
I returned to my high school to write and workshop a new draft of a full-length play that I originally wrote as a high school senior. The work culminated in a fully-realized production with the current cast and crew of the school’s Theatre program. I encouraged students to give feedback as they experienced the unique process of rehearsing a live text, and mentored students on independent playwriting, performance, and creative writing endeavors.

ADDITIONAL TEACHING ARTIST EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:
Austin Film Festival, Young Filmmakers Program Director -- Taught AFF’s ‘Digital Storytelling’ screenwriting curriculum within nine classrooms across three Austin Independent School District middle and high schools.
Variety Arts of Texas, Theatre Teaching Artist -- Provided after-school and summer extracurricular instruction on the arts of Theatre, Creative Writing, and Improvisation to elementary and early middle school students at Harris Elementary and East Austin College Prep. In the summer and fall of 2019, I directed the student performances at each campus.
Young Storytellers, Teacher and Head Mentor -- Led two, nine-week script-to-stage mentorship and writing programs to select 5th grade students at Dawson Elementary. I taught fundamental story elements as well as basic screenplay structure to guide and encourage students as they imagined and developed their own short scripts. I worked to build an inclusive and creative classroom space through the notion of play. In conclusion of the program, I cast and coordinated the Young Storyteller’s “Big Show” in which local actors performed the students’ work during an all-school assembly.
